This Is Strange

Simon;

It's Saturday, and i'm up early and looking forward to going to work. My head's full of ideas, and and I can't wait to get started. Katie's got a week off work, so we may have an extra pair of hands if necessary week. Which is a very good thing. Friday was a good day, and I've got a feeling that this bookshop lark might just work.
Tim was on the phone at home all morning getting in touch with the local schools, and offering them a service unknown to humankind. It's already produced 3 new accounts, two requests for doing assemblies, and a tabletop sale at a parents evening next week. Not bad for a mornings work. The flyering that we've been doing is beginning to work, and people have been coming in saying they didn't know about the shop until they'd got one through their door. People have been coming in and asking if they can take a bundle of flyers so they can do their streets (this has happened more than a dozen times now), and we're selling books as well.
The powerpoint advert that the library is putting on it's plasma screens looks really effective, and that'll 'go live' next week.
We we're front page in the local paper on Thursday, and although we'd have liked a bit more information about the shop, it was nice to see our gurning faces staring back at us in the newsagents.
We're further down the line with some of the events and author appearances, and hopefully we'll be able to produce our first newsletter in the next fortnight.
The mailing list is getting longer, and as soon as we've worked out how to set up outlook on the PC we'll be able to make use of it.
All in all, i'm a happy bunny.

Sounds as if you're doing brilliantly! So great that people are offering to deliver flyers for you - just shows people do value a decent bookshop in Wood Green...

Hi - been reading this blog with interest and I wish you all the best with your efforts.
Please, please get rid of that music player though - it drives me nuts every time I log on.

Yes, please get rid of the music player!

Another vote here to lose the music player much as I love the theme from The Littles Hobo...

Glad everything's going so well - hoping to call in to see when I'm down for the London Book Fair.

It sounds like everything is going so well! How valued are you going to be by the local community if folks are offering to flyer for you already?! Congratulations, let the till keep ringing!
