Murakami. The search begins

simon:

OK, so the votes are in and you've decided that you'd like us to try and get Haruki Murakami to visit the shop.
Fair enough.

So, I guess the first thing to do is this.... does anyone know his phone number, or e-mail address.
Looking forward to hearing from you

Could you not try to make contact via the publisher in the first instance?

is he on facebook?

I do believe that Scott Pack (the John Peel of books himself) has him on speed dial and (I suspect, but this could be a lie) a signed, framed photo on his bedside table.

I'd try 'im, like... xx

If you go to the publishers, I promise you that it will be one long, drawn out process involving chases with wild geese involved.

I agree with Mark - forget going through official channels - Scott's yer man, shamelessly use those contacts...

I still think you should get Shatner in though :-(

I'd come down from Abingdon for the event I'm telling you...

I would rely on the power of improbable coincidence.

Does that make you the Bruno Brookes, Farley? I suspect so.

Or the Timmy Mallett?

I'm not anything, Simon Bates/Scott Pack. I'm glad you crawled out of your new HarperCollins shaped hole to spew your immodest rubbish this week in The Bookseller. With that Blogger article following you, you didn't do very well, did you? I take it you are not offering your advice services to small publishers anymore?
